Henry Young SR served in the British Navy from 1757 to 1763. He served first on the Sloop Happy, then the Tender Eagle.followed by Ship Port Mahon, Ship Princess Royal,then to the Ship Centaur first at Spithead, then at Jamica and then at the Battle of Havana (1762) and then off Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was seriously wounded in the battle of Havana, so seriously wounded that his family in Edinburgh were told that he had been killed. Apparently he had a severe blow to the head and may have had a trepanation (hole in skull to permit more blood flow to brain) to save his life. He was mustered out 12/6/1763 as the Centaur was decommissioned. The ship shown is typical of the wooden ships he served on
