LOOKING WEST ON BROADWAY CIRCA 1940

I remember this area well. On left side are Kresge and Woolworh Five and Dime stores side by side. Further west on the left side is the Byers Hotel in the location formally occupied by the Dole Opera House. Auto in middle of street is 1939 Chevrolet while older Chevrolet is parked at curb. On Saturday evenings it was a big challenge to find a place to park on broadway to watch all of the people and cars go by. All the farmers came to town and sidewalks and stores were very crowded. Both five and dime stores had soda fountains where tasty food was served.
